Board of Architects Professional Practice Examination 2022
(1) The Board of Architects will be holding a Professional Practice Examination tentatively set for November 2022. All successful applicants will be duly informed of the examination date.
(2) Graduates from the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and other recognised Schools of Architecture, who wish to sit for the examination must have registered as Professional Practice Examination Candidates and obtained not less than twenty-four (24) months of practical experience in architectural work. This should include practical experience in architectural work in Singapore for a continuous period of at least twelve (12) months.
(3) All candidates are required to attend an Architectural Practice Course which will be conducted by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) on behalf of the Board. They can contact SIA directly on this matter. Please note that attendance at all tutorial sessions is compulsory. Candidates who are unable to attend the scheduled tutorial sessions for medical or other justifiable reasons must produce to the Board such reason of absence before they are allowed to sit for the examination.
(4) The Oral Examination will be conducted in the first quarter of 2023. Only invited candidates will be notified.
(5) Candidates who wish to apply to sit for PPE 2022 are required to submit the following:
(A) Documents to be submitted via POST:
The following documents must be mailed to the Board of Architects at 5 Maxwell Road # 01-03 Tower Block MND Complex Singapore 069110 via post. Do not drop the application off at our counter or email it to BOA.
(i) Application form for admission to PPE 2022
(ii) Application for registration as an Architect
(iii) Acknowledgement form for BOA Circular on Subsidy for Architectural Practice Course
(iv) 2 copies of qualification papers (such as degree, diploma etc.)
(v) 2 copies of transcripts of courses completed (showing subjects and examination results)
(vi) 2 character reference letters from the two referees you have stated in Section E of Form 1 – Application for registration
(B) Documents to be submitted via GOOGLE FORMS:
Candidates are required to upload the soft copy of the following documents onto Dropbox and submit the shared link(s) for downloading via this form.
(i) Practical Experience Logbook
(ii) Professional Case Study
Please refer to Annex A for “Notes for Submission of the Log Book and Professional Case Study”.
(C) Fees payable:
(i) Application fee for admission to PPE 2022: $600/$500*
(ii) Application fee for registration as an architect: $350
*First time applicants who have previously paid $100.00 to sign up as PPE candidates are only required to pay $500.00 for the examination application.
Notes:
(a) Examination fees are not refundable.
(b) Payment can now be made via PayNow, Internet Banking or cheque (made payable to Board of Architects). Please do not send cash via post.
(c) Please refer to our website for the instructions for making payment via PayNow or Internet Banking.
(d) Candidates who are making payment via PayNow or Internet Banking are required to take note of the following:
(i) In the comments section, indicate your name followed by your contact number. For eg. Aloysius Wong 91234567
(ii) Take a screenshot of the completed transaction and email it to boa_enquiry@boa.gov.sg.
(iii) Please specify the following information in your email:
- Mode of Payment - PayNow or Internet Banking
- Date of remittance
- Amount
(6) All applications must reach BOA by 29 Apr 2022. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
(7) Use of E-signatures
(i) PPE candidates are permitted to let the PPE Advisor and Supervisor sign the following documents electronically:
- Log sheets - Only applicable for the period between January 2020 and March 2022.
- Case study
(ii) PPE candidates are permitted to submit character reference letters which are signed electronically by the character referees.
(iii) If the PPE Advisor/Supervisor/character referee is not able to sign the above documents electronically, you are advised to get them to mail the signed documents back to you so that you can compile them together and submit with your application.
